Education is so important.  Learning is education.  Educating owners about their dogs is top priority when it comes to helping them have a healthy relationship with their dog.

Many parents read piles of books learning the best ways to raise and care for their child and that is learning about how to care for something that is of the same species and has the same communication.

It’s important dog owners feel just as dedicated to providing themselves an education on their dogs needs & behaviours, especially because they are a different species.  Would you bring a crocodile into you care without knowing the needs & communication of its species – just because dogs are everywhere & aren’t wild predators doesn’t mean they have the same communication as us.

Here at Dogs By Design we are passionate about education and have plenty of tools up our sleeve to inspire owners and make sure they understand what we are teaching them – education is so important and we certain understand that every human & dog learn best in different ways.

Socialisation is learning how to behave appropriately and be comfortable in different environments, around people and other animals.  A dog that has been exposed to a wide variety of situations and shown what state of mind to stay in, will be able to go more places with their family.

Don’t under estimate the power of socialisation – there is a reason service dogs are placed into homes when young to be socialised. Socialisation is about preparing your dog to cope with change, distraction & the unknown and learn that it isn’t something to react to or fear .

When done properly it builds a dog’s confidence so that when human error inevitably occurs your dog is better equipped to make better choices and be confident because they have seen it all before.

Remember a human world is very different to what their instincts know and I’m sure if you only walked the same route and lived in the same house for your entire childhood you would struggle to cope with the changing outside world too.
